Abstract: Ultimate load-carrying capacity is one of the most important indicators for evaluating the load-carrying safety of anti-ice structures. In this study, a series of ultimate load capacity envelope curves for an arc-shaped anti-icing structure was developed to rapidly assess its safety. The non-linear finite element method was applied to build a numerical model of an arc-shaped anti-ice structure to account for geometric and material nonlinearity. The constitutive model of the ice was built based on the failure and the plastic failure strain. A matrix of typical load conditions was constructed, combining impact velocities, impact angles, and two kinds of ice strength. The concept of the ultimate load-carrying state of an arc-shaped anti-ice structure was defined based on ice fragmentation and changes in the peak collision force. A series of envelope curves for the collision force and collision condition was constructed, enabling rapid safety assessment of the arc-shaped anti-ice structure's load-carrying by verifying whether the collision state falls within the safe envelope.
