Abstract:
Today our planet's water resources and the life-sustaining benefits they provide are under unprecedent pressure. As a global community, for multiple reasons, we are falling behind our commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and especially the SDG 6 (Clean water and sanitation for all by 2030). The UN Water conference held in New York in 2023 underlined the emergency and established the UN-Water Global Acceleration Framework to speed up progress toward SDG 6. The framework focuses on five critical accelerators to bridge gaps in policy, funding, and performance. Obviously, innovation is among the five, fostering new technologies, digital tools, and operational methods to optimize water resource management. This call for action is coming after numerous similar messages and reflect the need to engage deep transformation for the water management.
