Abstract: The paper gives a detailed description of numerical and experimental analysis of a cavitation free flow about a single blade placed in a water tunnel as well as the comparison between both the methods. The flow field upstream, around and downstream of the blade was measured by a Laser-Doppler velocimeter, the pressure distribution on the blade surface by using transducers, and the hydraulic torque by strain gauges mounted on the blade pivot. The problem was treated numerically by using the finite element method. The calculation was performed by FIDAP computer code using a k-z model. The agreement with measurements was good.
