Abstract: In this paper the instability of the flow gradually varying over a mobile bed has been studied. The results obtained show the influence of bedload transport on the stability of disturbances. The stability criteria have been given and examined in more detail. The one of Kranenburg for the flow over a fixed bed is considered as a special case. The numerical solutions of the amplitude evolution equation are given in some cases.
