Abstract: This paper presents the results of a computational and an experimental study on the characteristics of internal jumps in two-layer stratified flows. It considers jumps in coflowing as well as counterflowing layers. The theoretical sequent depth ratios have been found to agree reasonably well with the experimental results for jumps in coflowing as well as counterflowing layers.
