Abstract: This paper describes the withdrawal from a reservoir of two layers through separate valves which are downstream of a contraction. The fluid is considered as inviscid and the flow gradually varied. The variations of flow profiles obtained are shown and the limitation the contraction places on the total discharge and on the ratio of the discharge from each layer is discussed.
