Abstract: The results of a model investigation to determine the roughness coefficients of vegetated flood plains are presented in this Report. Two types of vegetation are dealt with: hedges and orchards. The Chézy coefficient of the flood plain is mainly influenced by the average spacing between the hedgerows, the number of trees per unit area, and the water depth over the flood plains. Some applications are shown of the relationships derived from the calculations of river stages during very high discharges of the River Maas.
