Abstract: Stage-discharge relationships reflect the hydraulic behavior of a river reach. In the present study, the authors aim to investigate the dynamic relationships between stage and discharge numerically in a river reach where riverbed evolutions take place actively and to propose a simple method for predicting the water levels during flood. The numerical simulations are conducted by employing a one -dimensional numerical model for experimental channels assuming rigid and erodible riverbed as well as for Seri River, Japan. Results obtained from the numerical computations show that the behavior of the stage-discharge relation for flows over erodible bed differs significantly from those for flow over rigid bed in the reaches where flow width is not constant. The computed results suggest that the one-dimensional method is useful for a river reach having large curvature radius.
