Abstract: Reducing sediment deposition and sediment flushing are critical for reservoir management. In this study, an Alluvial River-Movable Bed-Two Dimensional Model (ARMB-2D Model) is used to simulate sediment flushing efficiency of an empty storage in the Agongdian Reservoir. Flushing efficiency is calculated under two-day storms of seven different return periods (2-year, 5-year, 10-year, 25-year, 50-year, 100-year, and 200-year) .The simulated results indicate that the average efficiency is 59. 39%in a two-day storm. These results indicate that the proposed model can accurately simulates empty flushing, consequently maintaining effective capacity of the reservoir.
