Abstract: To deal with the moving boundary, this paper presents a fully coupled model simulating surface water and groundwater flows in coastal areas. In this model, computation domain was extended into bank with water exchange and interaction between the groundwater and surface water being taken into account. Governing equations for surface water and groundwater are combined and integrated from the bottom of the groundwater to the free surface. Using this fully coupled model, beside the moving boundary was conquered naturally, the surface water flow and groundwater flow can be simulated simultaneously in a uniformed numerical scheme. Several numerical tests were conducted to validate the model. The comparison results show that the model could well deal with the moving boundary and used to study the interaction between the two kinds of flow in coast.
