Derivation of Formulas for Sediment Carrying Capacity and Erosion and Deposition Strength Applicable to Channel Siltation Calculation on Silty Mud Coast

Abstract: Silt siltation is an important problem in channel construction. Sediment transport in channel had been a research hotspot because of its uniqueness. Based on the cross-section characteristics of channel, and in view of the problem that most of the existing formulas are semi-empirical and semi-theoretical, with assumption and simplification of the motion of sediment-laden flow, this paper deduces the formulas for calculating the flow carrying force and seabed scouring and silting strength from the perspective of hydrodynamic equilibrium of sediment-laden flow.
