Abstract: Turbulent wake flow pattern of the flow around a cylinder was mostly focused on by using numerical simulation and test, the actual flow exists in the free surface, but very few in this study. The present investigation is to predict the free surface using the Volume-of-Fluid method at Reynolds numbers Re=1.0×10 4 at different side-by-side circular cylinders spacings ratio: 1.25,1. 5 and 1.75. The Navier–Stokes equations are solutioned using a finite volume method. The results show that the gap flow between the cylinders directly affects the development of the free surface, weak hydraulic jump occurring in the wake flow. There is proper spacings ratio that make wake flow pattern different and the development of the free surface is distinguished from the other, the ratio is 1.5 in this paper. The cylinders respective drag coefficient and vortex shedding frequency is quite close, drag coefficient were in accordance with experimental observations and numerical simulation results of others.
