Abstract: A concern for sustainable living has seen the re-emergence of rainwater tanks in urban areas of New Zealand. These are now being used for management of stormwater including harvesting of water for nonpotable use. However, the proliferation of tanks on a catchment can lead to unfortunate consequences. This paper reviews studies that indicate that the possible negative effect of tank concentration
