Abstract: Based on a large amount of field data of erosion and sediment yield in loess zone with different natural and social circumstances, the runoff in depth and the sediment yield in a small watershed for one storm were derived. A large basin can be divided into a series of small watersheds linked by rivers. The universal river and reservoir sedimentation model was adopted. With the equations in small watersheds and existing mathematical river model, a mathematical model for prediction of sediment yield in a large basin for one storm has been established. The calibration of its results of the model is satisfactory.
