Abstract: Two numerical models of advection-diffusion of the pollutants are presented here. The first model is a modified 4t h order finite difference scheme and the second is a semiimplicit characteristic-Galerkin finite element scheme. These schemes are numerically tested for one and two dimensions. Comparisons made between the results of the numerical and the analytical solutions. Conclusions are extracted from the use of the above techniques concerning the dispersion and the diffusion of the pollutants.
