Abstract: A new algorithm for modeling contaminant transport of linearly sorbing solute is presented as a recursion formulation. The semi-analytical result is derived by assuming a Markov process model of sorption phenomena and incorporation of kinetic rates of sorption and desorption. Comparison with particle tracking method shows that the recursion formulation provides a better resolution of the breakthrough curves for non-equilibrium conditions.
