Parametric Excitation of Flexural-Gravity Waves by Periodic in-Plane Ice Stresses

Abstract: The parametric excitation of flexural-gravity waves by periodically varying in-plane ice stresses is investigated. Short asymptotic equations describing the process are derived. The amplitudes of stationary waves are constructed for different values of the ice thickness, water depth and frequency of the ice stresses oscillations. The resonant increase of wave amplitudes is revealed within formulated asymptotic equations.
