Abstract: A non-linear turbulent hydrodynamic model is proposed using large eddy simulation approach and directional eddy viscosity method. The model is based on the filtration of the 3D hydrodynamic equations using the anisotropic Gaussian filter. The model is applied to simulate the storm surge generated by Typhoon Ellen in 1983. The computation results and field records show good agreement.
