Abstract: To improve the design of two-stage channels, detailed knowledge of the flow mechanisms involved needs to be acquired. Angle and velocity measurements have been collected for two depths and for two geometries in a model of a two-stage meandering channel. These data have identified the presence of secondary currents in the cross-over region and have been used to monitor their subsequent developments. Observations show that the secondary currents are present for all depths and geometries considered.
