Abstract: The importance and need for a watershed model to predict flows in urban areascannot be overemphasized;hundreds of people and livestock are killed every year due tothe occurrence of flash floods. Many meteorologists and weather forecasters still usesimple methods for discharge estimation like the empirical area-discharge formulas, unithydrograph methods etc.The purpose of this study is to ascertain as to how a unithydrograph based method works as opposed to a physically-based distributed model fordischarge predictions. The spatially-distributed model presented herein is based on thedistributed parameter model developed by Jain et al.(1982).
