Abstract: In irrigation systems irrigation water is generally purifiedfrom suspended load in intermittent or continuous-type settlingbasins. In majority of cases the required length of the settlingbasin is determined from the condition of settling sediment ofspecified grade in the tail of the settiing basin[1],in thiscase the suspended particles settling time is determined by theratio of the settling basin depth to the particles terninai velo-city(fall velocity)without regard to the flow turbulence in thesettling basin.
