Abstract: A 2-D depth averaged flow mathematical model is linked with the k-ε turbulence model and the sediment transport model to compute the velocity and suspended sediment concentration distributions of a sediment laden jet discharging from a rectangular slot along the centerline of a channel. A sedimentation submodelis developed and coupled with the sediment transport model to take into account the entraiment, deposition and gradation of sediment carried by the jet. The computations are carried out for various flows and jet concentrations using two types of sediment namely: fine silt and gypsum. The comp uted resu lts agree very well with the previous experimental results.
