Allowing for the Effects of Relaxation Processes in the Studies of Heat Transfer in Marine Systems

Abstract: Many investigations are presently devoted to numerical modellingof marine systems.A marine system can be subdivided into threesubsystems:physical,chemical,and biological subsystems.Thestudy of heat transfer has become more important in the contextof anthropogenic effects,and for that the objective of modellingwould allow us to deal with the physical marine subsystem only.In a perfect case such a subsystem should cover the entire WorldOcean in infinite time.In practice it is limited to a certainocean area.Even in such a case it is necessary to employ thelaws of classical thermodynamics in spatial-temporal scales whichwould greatly exceed those of the laboratory experiment. The present study intends to emphasize the importance of assump-tions used for the heat transfer equation,it attempts the deter-mination of the domain of its usage and the development of a ge-neral equation suitable for the description of large-scale pro-cesses.
