Abstract: In this paper we solve the shallow water equations using boundary-fitted grids. This includes an examination of the effects of using skewed grids. The results demonstrate, that the numerical solution has the same accuracy near the boundaries as in the field except for some special points, and that large deviations from orthogonality only has small effects on the solution.
