Abstract: Cross spectra of multi-directional waves in a laboratory basin have theoretically been derived for both the cases by the single and double summation models for input signal generation. A sufficient number of frequency components are required even for the latter model to compensate phase locking. Because of an excessively large number of component waves required in the double summation model, the single summation model is recommended for laboratory experiments. Reproducibility of a target directional sprctrum in a basin with the single summation model is demonstrated by laboratory data.
