Abstract: Four different single-summation methods for directional ran dom wave generation are investigated. The first 3 methods employ equally spaced wave propagation angles and the fourth uses randomly spaced angles. The synthesis techniques are evaluated on the basis of both numerical simula tions and physically generated waves. Short-crested wave loadings measured on a model of a typical oflfshore jacket structure are also compared.
