Abstract: The present paper deals with the attempt to calculate a value of the slope ioss, caused by suspended sediments of diame-ter α=0.1 mm. On this purpose the reach of length ■ of uniform flow was considered and expression for the work of gravity. ap-plied to the reach over time twas presented. The eauation of turbulent diffusion was used to describe the distribution of sediment concentration in vertical. Results calculated from the formula, deduced to evaluate the sediment effect on slope loss in the open channel, agree with the full-scale test data. Authors' method may serve as foundation of hydraulic parameters for the sediment control arrangements.
