Abstract: In case of alluvial channels the size and shape of the channel, rates of horizontal and vertical deformations, characteristics of various formations in the channel depend on bedload composition. Mean size of bedload particles is often taken as a design parameter of natural sediments; this is one of the reasons of wrong computations of bedload motion and river-bed derormations. Bedload moves down the river-bed as dunes. The effect of bedload composition on dune shape and parameters is not studied properly in the publications available. The paper gives the results of experimental studies of bedload com--position effect on dune parameters and on flow characteristics.
