Development of the Bed of Tiber River

Abstract: In fig.1 is shown the catchment basin of the Tiber.The surface subtended tothe mouth is approximately of 16,600 Km².The annual average inflow is equal to1,035mm and the average downflow to 443m.The rate of maximum flood esti-mated at the Rome-Ripetta station is equal to 3,300m³s;the rate of minimumlow water flow is about 60m³s. In fig.2,is shown the duration curve of the daily flow rate related to theperiod 1922-1973.More than 100 years have passed since the beginning of the work that,becauseof the December 1870 flooding,were undertaken to "make the Tiber flood safefor Rome".
