Abstract: Oxygen-bubble Tracers and Long-exposure Photography (OTLP) are used to study turbulence structure in free surface channel flow. Attention is concentrated on turbulence near the gas-liquid interface. In particu lar, stat istical distribution of the turbulent velocity com ponents and turbulence intensities are obtained. The results show the redistribution of fluctuating energy near the interface, nam ely that the vertical fluctuations are damped while the stream wise fluctuations are promoted.
