Abstract: Following the same trend established by his research work done on the application of the nonlinear flow concepts to groundwater hydraulics, the author obtains a new analytical solution for steady nonlinear flow through a recharge well in a confined, homogeneous and isotropic aquifer. The possibility of existance of different zones of flow around the recharge well in dependance of the values of the rate of recharge and the hydraulic properties of the aquifer is also examined, defining the concepts of turbu- lent and Darcian radius and presenting the equations for calculating them. It is also shown that the correct analysis of recharge must take into account the gradient of natural flow in the aquifer, and that the concepts of superposition of potential flows can be applied to the determination of the recharge mound boundary in the case of nonlinear flow through the well, provided that the natural flow in the aquifer is linear.
