Abstract: A technique for the analysis of 2D pollutant migration through a soil layer of finite depth is outlined. Consideration is given to the effects of the finite mass of contaminant within the landfill as well as the effect of advective velocity within an underlying aquifer. A number of important aspects of the problem of predicting contaminant migration are illustrated by example. Finally, the determination of appropriate soil parameters is discussed.
