Abstract: The object of investigation is the propagation of long shock wave in prizmatic trapezoidal channel. The problem was solved using numerical and hydraulic modelling. Two-dimens ional plane model of Saint- Venaunt was used in numerical calculations. The shape of. the front was analysed analitically. Various hypotheses about the energy losses were inves tigated. Bes t agreement with experiment was obtained in case when the specific losses were supposed to be cons tant along the front. It was es tablished that flow velo-city in shore line region approaches the value of the wave front celerity when the shock wave propagates along trapezoidal channel.
