Abstract: Numerical solution of the Reynolds-averaged Navier -Stokes equations for steady flow over a train of two-dimensional artificial dunes indicates that by using a modified version of the standard k-E turbu- lence model the following can be predicted: the velocity profiles; the distribution of bottom pressure and shear stresses; and the total force" acting on a dune. The purpose of this study is to obtain a better un- derstanding of the forces and stresses generated by the flow of water over dunes. All calculations are compared with experimental data to evaluate the developed modified k-ε turbulence model.
