Computation of Discharge Distribution in Compound Channels

Abstract: The paper analyses two models for evaluation of eddy viscosity in the application of the depth averaged momentum equa tion for computation of discharge distribution in compound channels. It was shown by comparison with the, experiments that the accuracy of computations with k-ε model strongly depends on width to depth ratio so that this model needs further improvement. On the other hand, it was shown that the di- mensionless eddy viscosity model, although being very simple, can be applied in practical computations if the constant of the model is calibrated via river bathymetry and hydrometry data.
