Abstract: The Rhine-Meuse estuary hydraulic scale model is one of the tools used in a long term research program on water quantity and water quality problems of the Rhine-Meuse estuary. The present paper deals with the computer configuration and the software necessary to operate the model under high accuracy demands. On a long te rm the hydraulic scale model will be replaced by a set of mathematical models. Experiences with the software and hardware of the hydraulic model will prov ide information on the necessary soft-and hardware for this set of mathematical models.
