Abstract: This study investigates key parameters influencing the aeration process, specifically the liquid film coefficient (KL) and the specific interface area (a). It also explores the impact of data errors and the choice of objective functions on parameter estimation through the inverse technique. A parameter estimation framework was developed by integrating a genetic algorithm (GA) with a numerical model simulating oxygen transfer in aerated flows. The findings reveal that using only dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration data does not allow for the unique simultaneous estimation of parameters, as local minima in the parameter space KL-a highlights this limitation.
