Abstract: This study analyzed the hydraulic characteristics, such as flow velocity, discharge, and secondary currents, in the meander zone of Paldang Lake during flood and low-flow seasons. Using Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data obtained through field measurements, the results revealed that during the flood season, increased inflows primarily from the South Han River elevated flow velocities up to 0.25 m/s. In the meander zone, secondary circulation cells contributed to distinct zones of erosion and deposition. Conversely, during the low-flow season, flow velocities decreased to approximately 0.05 m/s, exhibiting reservoir-like flow characteristics with localized reverse flows observed in specific sections. These findings aim to enhance the understanding of the complex flow dynamics in Paldang Lake and the mechanisms of erosion and deposition in its meander zone.
