Abstract: In Korea, there are many fixed weirs along the small rivers. Due to the weirs, flows and river ecology tend to be disconnected and correspondingly the river bed and water quality appear to be very varied along cross-sections. Especially, the long duration of annual dry season in Korea makes the conditions worse, which leads to bad river environments. This study presents field monitoring of flows, river bed and water quality along the cross-sections in the upstream of the fixed weir as well as the fixed weir characteristics. With intent to find a way to modify the fixed weirs for better river environments, relationships among the parameters will be pursued. Firstly, this study will show a certain pattern among the parameters obtained from various fields.
