Abstract: Suspended sediment concentration measurements were done using the LISST-ABS instrument in the Sava, Drava and Danube rivers during the several field campaigns, providing the dataset with large variations in total sediment load across the river section. The aim of the research was to compare LISST-ABS calibration parameter variability across different locations and quantify the expected margin of error for uncorrected measurements. The measurements were performed as stationary vertical profile measurements and compared with traditional isokinetic sampling conducted in the same discrete points over the flow depth. The results showed that, while the calibrated instrument provided reliable suspended sediment concentration data, the variability of the data corrected with the constant calibration factor provided good fit and proved that satisfactory approximation of the sediment concentration can be obtained before the data post-processing.
