Keywords: Shimeno Wando collaborative restoration cutting down of floodplain fish habitat
Abstract: In the Shimeno area of the Yodo River, a new Wando restoration plan was implemented to make it easier for people to approach the river and create fish habitats. Between 2018 and 2020, three new Wandos were constructed downstream of Shimeno No. 2-Wando, which is an existing wando. Additionally, the Shimeno area of the Yodo River was selected as a model area for the redevelopment of river parks due to the long-term involvement in wando-based activities by river rangers, university students, and civic groups. As part of this project, new wandos were also constructed upstream of Shimeno No. 2-Wando between 2021 and 2023. In this study, we examined the fish communities in the existing and newly constructed wandos to determine whether these wandos can function as fish habitats.
