Abstract: Suspended sediment transport on natural river has an important role in planning the waterworks, such as irrigation design, canals, etc. To determine the suspended sediment discharge, it requires suspended sediment concentration and velocity measurement data that directly obtained from the field. The objective of this study is to find the simplified measurement method of suspended sediment concentration and velocity distribution on natural river. Studies about the distribution of suspended sediment concentration in natural river were performed in Opak River, Yogyakarta, by applying direct calculation method. The distribution of suspended sediment was measured using Opcon Probe, while the flow velocity distribution was measured using Propeller Currentmeter. The distribution of suspended sediment concentration measurement result shows that the closer it is to the riverbed, the more increased it gets. Suspended sediment discharge on natural river can be obtained from suspended sediment concentration and velocity profiles that use the measurement at z/B = 0.19 or z/B =0.76 to represent each cross-section river. Rouse and Tanaka & Sugimoto equation can be used to predict the distribution of suspended sediment concentration in the center of the river.
