Abstract: The Yangtze River is the most important channel for inland waterway transportation in China. Since the Three Gorges Project was impounding, the release of clear water led to the scouring of the riverbed in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River for a long time, local channel the regime of river adjusts sharply, bank collapse happens all the time. Traditional waterway regulation projects generally focus on remediation effects and neglect the protection of hydro-environment. In order to achieve the harmony between the two, a new type of permeable spur dike is obtained based on the optimized WES curve. The spur dike gently discharges the water so that it is smoothly connected with the downstream water flow, reduces the erosion of the lower drain water to the riverbed; decreases the head of the water flow gradient, slows down the spur dike head flow around, reduces the depth of the scour pit; forms relatively hydrostatic area behind the spur dike and promotes mud sand silting, protects the riverbed, conduces to the survival of aquatic animals and plants. The streamlined structure of the spur dike and the arch structure of the water hole can reduce the damage to the fish. The new permeable pure dike can play an active role in improving the hydro-environment of the Yangtze River waterway.
