Abstract: Recently, the vulnerability of the urban area on large scale inundation disasters and the countermeasures are discussed in many occasions. However, the inundation situation of the underground space and its risk is not examined sufficiently. In this study, the inundation situation due to tsunami in Nagoya, Japan, with the highly developed underground space such as underground shopping center and subway were examined by using the numerical simulation. The developed analysis model treats the overland flood flow, the river flow, the sewer flow, the water volume changes of the underground shopping center and the subway station, and the water flow of the subway line. Firstly, the analysis model for the tsunami and the inundation was developed in consideration of nonreflecting boundary condition and nesting model. The validity of this analysis model has been shown from the comparison of the maximum water level and the maximum inundation water depth due to the tsunami presented by the Cabinet Office, Government of Japan and the Aichi Prefecture. Moreover, from analysis results of the inundation in urban area, it was shown that the large inundation occurs in the case without coastal dike. Especially, it was shown the risk that a large amount of water flows into the Meiko subway line. From this study, the risk of the inundation due to tsunami in urban area with underground facilities was shown obviously.
