Abstract: In recent years, video-based flow measurement technology has been widely applied in river flow monitoring, offering advantages such as high safety, strong timeliness, and easy maintenance. This study proposes a flood flow measurement method based on video-based flow measurement technology. By collecting video data during flood events and utilizing photogrammetric projection transformation techniques and Large-Scale Particle Image Velocimetry (LSPIV), flood surface velocities can be calculated. Combined with water level and cross-sectional information, flood flow estimation can be achieved. Experimental results show that the flow estimation error is less than 10%, validating the feasibility of video-based flow measurement technology. Despite the significant achievements in flood monitoring using video-based techniques, there are still challenges and limitations. Factors such as lighting conditions, video quality, and scene complexity may affect measurement accuracy. Therefore, future research should focus on improving algorithms and technologies to enhance the applicability and reliability of video-based flow measurement techniques in different environments.
