Abstract: Agricultural drought (AD) is a critical natural disaster that evolved primarily from soil moisture (SM) deficiencies, threatening food security. Recently, the frequent drought events have considerably affected crop productivity, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions such as Pakistan. This study aims to assess AD using historical soil moisture data across multiple soil layers and its spatiotemporal relationship with vegetation health, meteorological droughts, and climatic variables in Pakistan. Additionally, multiple machine learning models are evaluated to identify the most efficient model for better drought monitoring and prediction.
