Abstract: Stream bank erosion can massively influence the morphodynamic of a stream and cause damages to nearby infrastructures. The quantification of such processes remains a big challenge for researchers and practitioners, mainly due to the complex interaction of factors. For further understanding of these processes, monitoring and field measurements remain a fundamental task. In recent years, the development of several tools as considerably improved the potential of measuring the spatial and temporal variation of fluvial morphology due to hydraulic bank erosion. In Particular, LiDAR technologies is applied in different tools. Depending on the types of data needed, one or the other tool are more suited for a survey, optimizing the combination of data quality and resolution while minimizing temporal and resource demands. In order to investigate the criteria of this optimization for different types of application (e. g. research vs practice, small scale vs large scale), in this work we tested and compare three different measurements of river bank morphology using different tools with integrated LiDAR technology. The methods being evaluated are the use of a DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone equipped with a Zenmuse L1 LiDAR payload; a GeoSLAM ZEB Horizon mobile scanner; and an iPhone 12 Pro with a LiDAR sensor.
