The 9th IAHR Europe Congress was held in Luleå, Sweden, from 9–12 June 2026. The Congress was organised by the IAHR Europe Division together with Luleå University of Technology, with conference management support from Nordic Congress. The event took place at Kulturens Hus in Luleå and was supported by 12 sponsors representing both industry and academia.
The overall theme of the Congress was “Innovating Hydro-Environment Engineering for a Sustainable Future: Arctic Waters and Beyond”. The conference brought together researchers, professionals, and leading experts in hydro-environment engineering to exchange knowledge and discuss sustainable solutions to some of the most important water-related challenges facing society today.
During the Congress, a broad range of topics were addressed, including new research findings, innovative technologies, and sustainable engineering practices aimed at protecting and developing water environments. The programme included keynote lectures, panel discussions, technical sessions, and interactive exchanges intended to encourage collaboration and stimulate new ideas.
