Abstract: This paper describes the current situation, inspection and testing, installation and embedment, management and maintenance and uses of relevant standards and specifications of dam safety monitoring instruments at home and abroad, the characteristics and differences among them are analyzed, emphasizing on the analysis of dam safety monitoring automation system. Based on the development of various the new technologies, I make some suggestions on the development trend and revision of specifications and standards of dam safety monitoring instruments. All of these are to provide some references and guidance on the design, production and development and revision of standards and specification of dam safety monitoring instruments in the future.
