First Webianr: James Lofty is a Humboldt fellow at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology investigating micro- and macro- plastic transport in rivers using multidisciplinary approaches - integrating both laboratory and field work. He gained his PhD at Cardiff University and currently collaborates with researchers at Imperial College London, the University of Birmingham and the University of California, Riverside. His work aims to identify the physical properties and mechanisms, based on fluid dynamics, which govern how plastic behaves and is transported in turbulence. This critical information aims to predict the motion of plastics in rivers and will inform future environment policies aiming to reduce the flux of plastics in the environment.

Second Webianr: The HydroEurope Erasmus+ project addresses a critical gap in water engineering education by developing innovative teaching units focused on climate change impacts on flash floods. We are creating problem-based learning materials for six European case studies to move climate adaptation from an afterthought to the core of the curriculum. This initiative equips future water engineers with the knowledge and tools to manage increasingly frequent and severe flash flood events. The project directly supports EU climate adaptation goals by modernizing hydroinformatics and water management master's courses across partner universities. Our collaborative work aims to build resilience through enhanced, practical academic training
